Religious Education for Children & Youth

Religious Education at Bell Street Chapel

Our Religious Education program gives children a chance to learn about our Unitarian Universalist faith and discuss important spiritual ideas.

The Bell Street Chapel Religious Education program for children offers three levels of religious exploration:

Chalice Children (Preschool and Kindergarten)

This class uses the Chalice Children curriculum (click here for more information), which strives to teach about our shared Unitarian Universalist faith tradition, the strength of community, wonder and awe, and other key values we share.

Chalice Builders (First thru Sixth Grades)

This class will use the Love Connects Us curriculum (click here for more information), and stories related to Unitarian Universalist Principles on an alternating schedule. This curriculum explores the Unitarian Universalist faith tradition using the affirmation we recite together in worship (Love is the spirit of this church, and service is its law. This is our great covenant: to dwell together in peace, to seek truth in love, and to help one another).

Chalice Explorers – Coming of Age Class (7th and 8th Grade)

This class will use the Riddle and Mystery curriculum (click here for more information), which explores many of life’s big questions through a Unitarian Universalist lens. The Coming of Age program is a two-year journey that culminates in a ceremony and invitation to membership for those who complete it.
