Simply Pray: A Modern Spiritual Practice to Deepen Your Life
The practice of prayer appeals to something deep within many of us, especially those of us who grew up reciting Catholic prayers on a rosary, or those of us fascinated by the mala beads carried by Buddhist practioners. But what if our journey has taken a path different from the traditional religions and the often moving rituals they provide? How, and why, should we pray? In Simply Pray the universal qualities of prayer are revealed and a way to incorporate this spiritual practice into your personal journey is offered.
Session Dates: February 19, March 4, March 11, March 25
Sessions begin at 12:15 p.m. in the Parish House
Articulating Your UU Faith
What do you say when people ask, “What is that church you go to?” Members of this course will be able to tell others about the history of our faith tradition, our principles and purposes and our witness to liberal religion in our community, nation and world. We will move through a series of engaging exercises–personal reflection, role-play, discussion designed to equip us in articulating our faith.
Session Dates: April 29, May 6, May 13, May 20, June 3
Sessions begin at 12:15 p.m. in the Parish House
Religious Education gives our children a chance to learn about our Unitarian Universalist faith and discuss important spiritual ideas.
We have an enthusiastic group of children and teachers for the 2011-2012 church year. We will have a variety of programming during the year with something offered almost every Sunday. At this time child care is offered for the youngest children, some Sundays have intergenerational services and most other Sundays there is a single class for elementary age children. There are always two adults in the class so if there is a wide age range present, we will have two activities in the same room with one adult for each activity. If you would like more information, please speak with Shelagh Goulis, Chair of the Religious Education Committee on any Sunday morning. You can also send an email using the Contact Us link.
